Lauren Cheatle Skin Cancer Treatment: Gujarat Giants’ Star Pacer ruled out of WPL 2024

Gujarat Giants’ Australian left-arm seam bowler Lauren Cheatle Skin Cancer treatment Keeps her Ruled out of domestic seasons. Also, she would be ruled out of WPL – Women’s Premier League after she undergoes medical processes for skin cancer treatment on her neck. Earlier in 2021, Cheatle underwent skin cancer treatment.

The WPL Team – Gujarat Giants signed Lauren Cheatle for 30 Lakhs. The season is yet to begin on 23rd February but now she will miss the tournament. Unfortunately, Lauren will also miss the rest of the WNCL season for NSW – New South Wales.

Last year, Lauren Cheatle debuted in a test match for Australia against India. Ever since 2019, this was her first international appearance following a few major shoulder injuries. If she had not injured her shoulder, she might have been for the Test against South Africa this month.

According to the statement of NSW – New South Wales, Lauren Cheatle is aiming to return for her training following the players’ scheduled break during the off-season.

Lauren Cheatle Skin Cancer Treatment: Faced Multiple Shoulder Injuries

The Australian Seamer Lauren Cheatle opens up by saying she faced countless challenges with her body. It includes multiple shoulder surgeries and a cancer fright. Despite difficulties, She is thrilled to visit India.

Lauren’s 4th shoulder surgery was tough. Also, She felt frightened of her cancer. Indeed she felt forced to rethink how to approach injuries and recovery. In November 2023, she mentioned this as the scariest chapter in her career.

Although Lauren Cheatle experienced an impressive 2023. From 2023 to 2024, She wonderfully took 21 wickets in 14 matches in WBBL for Sydney Sixers. Unfortunately, the talented fast bowler couldn’t make her international appearances because of her continued shoulder problem. Further, she underwent several reconstructive surgeries.

Surprisingly, the success was immense before Lauren Cheatle Skin Cancer. In 2016, the Star pacer made her debut in Australia. Out of the 12 All-Format matches, she successfully has 7 wickets. The 25-year-old is very active off the field as she is working for a disability support service.

Lauren Cheatle Skin Cancer: How it Began?

The determination and love for her game didn’t allow her to observe the issue at the very starting stage. Later in June 2023,  Lauren noticed an abnormal lump on her skin.

As time passed by, Cheatle observed a few changes in the orientation of that area. The skin got darker and hurt when touched.

For the NSW Players, Yearly skin checks are a normal practice. That way, Lauren’s upcoming checkup was due in a couple of weeks. But she didn’t choose to wait! She hurried to seek CNSW medical consultation, who urgently referred her to another specialist.

Finally, it was Cheatle’s urgency and that of her doctors – that made all the difference.

According to the diagnosis, reports confirmed it as Skin Cancer’s early stage. However, Lauren didn’t expect this shock. She said it was shocking which no one would even expect to happen and Not at the age of 22!

Lauren further added on saying that, she knew in her gut that something wasn’t right. As soon as she showed NSW Doctors, she was redirected to a specialist immediately without any delay.

She expressed feeling at least lucky about not waiting for a couple of weeks and finding the issue earlier. As the outcome would have come different and more severe as compared to now.

Gujarat Giants Feels Disappointed: Lauren Cheatle Skin Cancer Treatment

Unexpectedly, Gujarat Giants had to feel that heavy blow with Lauren Cheatle ruled out from the upcoming season. They are not blaming anyone for this but just express the dullness. Lauren Cheatle Skin Cancer Treatment does not allow her to be a part of this WPL Season. Gujarat finished last with just two wins in eight matches.

Gujarat is yet to announce a replacement for Lauren Cheatle. Meanwhile, the upcoming WPL 2024 season will start on 23rd February. Also, it is confirmed that Bengaluru and Delhi will host the entire competition.

Lauren Cheatle Skin Cancer – Future Chances to Play

As of now, Lauren’s Skin Cancer has to be treated. Later, the lump and darker part of her skin is to be rectified. As it hurts on touch, we can understand the severity of the issue. NSW

Doctors have redirected Lauren to a specialist. Under their guidance and successful treatment, she might return to active mode.

However, no one can be assured about her future playing. As it would depend on the relief after treatment. Therefore, let us wait for Lauren to return from her treatment and for the NSW Official confirmation on her playing.
