The 3rd edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to take place from February 21 to March 16 2025 with 5 teams participating in the tournament. (1) Simran Sheikh (Gujarat Giants)
A 22-year-old Mumbai batter used to play for UP Warriorz before this season. She was released by the franchise due to her poor performance. While playing for UP Warriorz, she only managed to score 29 runs in 7 innings. Now, the Gujarat Giants franchise has shown faith in her and bought her for a whopping INR 1.9 crore in the auction.
Simran went unsold in the WPL 2024 but has now found a new home for the next season. GG franchise would expect her to give returns with the performances from the investment they have made in her.
(2) Deandra Dottin (Gujarat Giants)
West Indian all-rounder Deandra Dottin became the most expensive overseas buy in the WPL 2025 auction. Her ability with both the bat and the ball makes her a valuable asset to the team. GG has spent the most money in the auction and would expect their players to perform well.
GG has signed Dottin for a whopping INR 1.7 crore.
(3) G. Kamalini (Mumbai Indians)
A young 16-year-old becomes thee 3rd most expensive buy in the auction. Her six-hitting ability impressed the MI franchise and they signed her for INR 1.6 crore. She has done well recently in a U-19 Women’s Trophy and scored the 2nd most runs in the tournament. Kamalini’s performances helped Tamil Nadu to win the tournament.
(4) Prema Rawat (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)
Last season’s champions RCB signed Prema Rawat for INR 1.2 crore for the next WPL season. A 23-year-old spinning all-rounder has impressed the RCB management and will now feature in the next season of WPL. She has played domestic cricket in Uttarakhand for a short time.
(5) N. Charani (Delhi Capitals)
DC has invested INR 50 Lakh in N. Charani in the WPL 2025 auction. A 20-year-old hasn’t played any WPL game yet. This will be the first time she will be a part of WPL. DC has a lot of expectations from her and her all-round ability will make her a valuable player in the team.
