Gujarat Titans (GT) came to the Indian Premier League 2022 for the first time and won the title in their first outing. And captain H Pandya led the side from the front with both bat and ball. And his leadership quality impressed some of the former players as well.

They had some of the best batters in H Pandya, S Gill, D Miller, and R Tewatia. And their bowling unit was one of the best in the tournament with the likes of M Shami, R Khan, and L Ferguson.

Top 5 batters for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022

(1) Hardik Pandya

Captain Hardik Pandya led from the front for the team in the IPL 2022. Not with the bat, he has contributed enough with the ball and his captaincy was outstanding in the whole tournament.

H Pandya is in the form of his life and he has become more mature in the last couple of years. His ability to hit the ball in the death overs makes him so valuable in the team. And now, he has even played in the top order in the IPL 2022.

He took the responsibility to play the long inning and he promoted himself at No. 3 and 4 in so many games.

H Pandya changed his approach and took his time to pace the inning. He goes big in some of the innings and took it to the last and then explodes in the last 4 or 5 overs.

Gujarat Titans won their first-ever title as well in his captaincy. In the 15 matches he played in the IPL 2022, he scored 487 runs and was the highest run scorer for the team.

His strike rate was 131.27 and he hit 49 fours and 12 sixes in the whole tournament.

(2) Shubman Gill

He is a technically correct batsman and his range of shots is eye-catching to see. The way he plays those cricketing shots and still scores run consistently in this format.

Some of the experts might suggest that he is not as good a T20 player as he is in Test or ODI, but he has proved them wrong by scoring those crucial runs at the top for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022.

In the 16 innings of the 16 games he played, he scored 483 runs with a strike rate of 132.33. He has hit 51 fours and 11 sixes in the whole tournament.

S Gill might be considered in a T20 format as well if he continues to do well like this. In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), he is doing well and will be eager to continue this form in the future.

(3) David Miller

The South African was the X factor for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022. His contribution to the team’s success is immense. He played in the middle order (generally at No. 5 or 6) and steadied the team when the team is in trouble.

The management gave him an opportunity and banked on him. And the left-hander didn’t disappoint the team’s decision and has done well.

D Miller’s ability to hit the ball long and hard makes the bowler’s job difficult. You cannot restrict runs until D Miller is at the crease.

In the 16 games, D Miller has scored 481 runs with a strike rate of 143. He has hit 32 fours and 23 sixes in the IPL 2022.

(4) Wriddhiman Saha

You can expect some big runs from the star Indian player who is good in T20 cricket, from the overseas T20 star batter, but there is W Saha, who has done well for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022.

The team showed faith in him and makes him an opener to the team. And he didn’t disappoint the team management’s decision. He gave the team a very good start at the top with a very good strike rate. And he has been consistent in terms of scoring runs.

In the 11 innings, he scored 317 runs and was the fourth-highest run scorer for the team. His trike rate was 122 and he has hit 40 fours and 7 sixes in the tournament.

(5) Rahul Tewatia

Along with D Miller, R Tewatia holds the GT’s middle order in the IPL 2022. In a few games, when the situation was tense, and the team is in trouble, R Tewatia steady the ship for them.

Even in a few games, when Gujarat Titans need to chase the target with the required run rate on the higher side, he has hit those boundaries and sixes when needed.

R Tewatia is on the 5th of this list with 217 runs in the 16 matches. His strike rate was 148 and he has hit 22 fours and 9 sixes.

(1) Mohammad Shami

The seamer was the highest wicket-taker for the franchise in the IPL 2022. He took 20 wickets in the 16 games he has played with a strike rate of 18.3.

M Shami bowled with the new ball very well and he was a genuine wicket-taker for the team.

(2) Rashid Khan

Having Rashid Khan in the team always makes the bowling unit lethal. He is hard to get away and he is economical at the same time.

Sometimes batters didn’t take chance against him because of his ability to take wickets. In the 16 games, he took 19 wickets in the IPL 2022 with a strike rate of 20.15.

(3) L Ferguson

The pace machine was the fastest bowler in the IPL 2022 as well. He hurried the batters with his pace and always go for the wicket. In the 13 games, he took 13 games, he took 12 wickets. His trike rate was 23.83.

(4) Yash Dayal

The left-arm seamer has complemented the GT’s bowling unit and made his name with the likes of M Shami, L Ferguson, and R Khan.

Youngster Y Dayal bowled with the new ball and gets the ball to come back in. In the 9 games, he took 11 wickets with a strike rate of 17.45.

(5) Hardik Pandya

Not with the bat, H Pandya has done well with the ball as well for the team. In the final, he got the momentum back by taking three crucial wickets.

In the 15 games, he took 8 wickets with a strike rate of 22.87.
