Yuvraj Singh Picked His Best Playing XI | T20 WC 2024

Yuvraj Singh picked his best playing XI for Team India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024

The ICC T20 World Cup is just over a week ahead to start and the Indian team players will board the flights in two phases. Some of the team players are still busy in the IPL 2024 playoffs and will join the team later. The BCCI has already announced the squad for the tournament, and former India’s WC winner, Yuvraj Singh has picked his best-playing Team India for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Today, we will see what combination Yuvraj Singh has picked for Team India for the tournament.

Yuvraj Singh picked Rohit and Yashasvi as two openers

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal to open for Team India in the best playing 11 picked by Yuvraj Singh. He ruled out the combination of Virat Kohli opening the batting along with Rohit Sharma. One of the main reasons for him to pick Yashasvi Jaiswal is the left-hand-right-hand combination.

Then he picked Virat Kohli as No. 3 in Team India playing 11 for the T20 WC 2024. It’s Virat’s usual place for Team India in white-ball cricket. Suryakumar Yadav becomes a sure-shot choice for anyone in T20Is. Yuvraj Singh is no different. He picked Surya as No. 4 in his playing XI.

Yuvraj preferred a left-right combination in the middle order

Although Sanju Samson has done well with the bat, Yuvraj preferred Rishabh Pant as his first-choice wicketkeeper in the batting lineup. Rishabh Pant has also done exceptionally well for Delhi Capitals (DC) after a comeback from that horrifying accident.

One of the main reasons Yuvraj has picked Rishabh is the left-right batting combination, as we discussed earlier. The bowler has to adjust his line and length when there is a left-hand right-hand batting combination. Yuvi also thinks Rishabh has massive potential to win games for India.

Hardik at No. 6 despite his IPL form

The former Indian cricketer has gone with Hardik Pandya as a fast-bowling all-round option, batting at No. 6. Hardik’s IPL form is not up to his standard as he only managed to score 216 runs in 14 games. Also, he came back from a long injury lay-off, and he didn’t look good in his bowling rhythm too. Although he has shown improvement in bowling off-late in the tournament.

Yuvraj Singh believes that Hardik will do something extraordinary in the tournament. He also thinks that the selectors don’t have to forget what Pandya did for Team India in the past.

Dube over Jadeja in Yuvi’s Team India playing XI

Yuvraj had an interview with the ICC at the time of his appointment as T20 World Cup ambassador, before the selection of the Indian team. Following Shivam Dube’s strong performances in IPL 2024, the two-time World Cup winner picked Shivam Dube to make the squad.

Dube looks a bit off-color in the last few games, but he has been outstanding throughout the tournament for CSK. He scored 396 runs in 14 games with an exceptional strike rate of 162.29.

Yuvraj Singh has picked Shivam Dube for the No. 7 spot instead of a spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Yuvi thinks the kind of form Shivam Dube is in, he has to be in the squad. Dube can make a huge difference in the middle or lower middle order.

Yuvraj expressed sympathy for Rinku and Shubman

Shivam Dube comes into the squad at the expense of Rinku Singh. Rinku has been in great form for Team India and the team needs someone like him to finish the game at the back end of the inning. He was a sure-shot in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad, but the equation didn’t go in favor of Rinku. He didn’t get much opportunity to bat as other KKR batters did well. Whatever little chances Rinku got, he didn’t make it count. At the same time, Shivam Dube was phenomenal for CSK and the recency factor cost Rinku his place in the squad.

Same goes with Shubman Gill. His performances in the IPL 2024 have been below-par and Yashasvi came out well off-late. Both players are in the traveling reserves of the Indian team. Yuvraj Singh expressed sympathy for both, Shubman and Rinku.

“Unfortunate for him (Rinku) and Shubman obviously, scoring tons of runs, from the last year someone who has scored the most number of hundreds for India. From the last two years, and to miss out, as I said that’s the nature of selecting a World Cup squad and I’m sure these guys will be the first ones whenever there’s an opportunity.” – Yuvraj said.

Yuzi over Kuldeep in the playing XI

Yuvraj was pleased to see Yuzvendra Chahal coming back in the T20 WC for India. He has picked Yuzi as a lone wrist-spinner, preferred over in-form Kuldeep Yadav.

Three fast bowlers in Yuvi’s XI

The former cricketer has picked three fast bowlers; Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh in the playing XI. That means he is going only with one spinner in the XI.

Yuvraj Singh’s India’s playing XI:-

Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

So this is Yuvraj’s playing XI for Team India for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
