IPL 2023 is going well and Yashasvi Jaiswal is on fire at the start of the tournament. In the three innings till now, he has scored 54, 11, and 60 against SRH, PBKS, and DC.
4, 4, 4, 0, 4, 4: Yashasvi Jaiswal sets the highest first-over score of IPL 2023
The 11th game of IPL 2023 is been played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at Guwahati. Both the teams coming into this game after a loss in their last game. DC lost their last game against Gujarat Titans (GT) as GT chased down the target of 163 with 6 wickets and 11 balls to spare. While RR lost their last game against PBKS.
In the current game, DC won the toss and elected to bowl first. Yashasvi Jaiswal made his intentions clear in the very first over. He hit 5 fours to Khaleel Ahmed in the 1st over.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been giving quick starts to the team in IPL 2023 till now and has been complimenting Jos Buttler very well. Even sometimes, he is going at a faster rate and Jos Buttler is playing second fiddle to them.
Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to attack in the powerplay as he hit three consecutive fours to Axar Patel in the 5th over. He reached his half-century in the 7th over by placing the ball for a four between long on and mid-wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal reached this milestone in just 25 balls.
He got out to Mukesh Kumar while playing a pull shot. Jaiswal scored 60 off 31 balls with 11 fours and a six. RR managed to score a good total of 199 on the board.
As we are writing this article, DC is 42 for 3 after 7 overs with captain David Warner and Lalit on the crease. Trent Boult showed his class with the new ball and took two wickets in the very first over.
R Ashwin came in and got Rilee Rossouw in his first over. DC is in trouble and the chase looks very difficult.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also scored a fifty in the first game
The left hander has been doing well at the top and using the powerplay to a good effect. He is giving the team quick starts in every game. RR’s first game was against SRH. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 54 off 37 balls with 9 fours in that game.
RR scored 203 and restrict SRH to a small total of 131.
In the 2nd game of RR against PBKS, again Yashasvi came in with positive intent and hit a four and a six, but his inning didn’t last long as he got out for 11 in the 2nd over off Arshdeep Singh.
RR fell 5 runs short of the PBKS target. They were chasing 198 in the 2nd inning.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is looking good in IPL 2023 and the team will expect from him that he will continue his good form in the tournament. His quick starts will make life easier for the lower order batters.
RR franchise preferred Yashasvi at the top in the last season as well
The elegant left hander has all the shots in his armory and his temperament and shot selection have been spot on in the IPL 2023 till now. In fact, last year as well, the franchise showed faith in him and prefer him in place of Devdutt Paddikal at the top. And he has done reasonably well.
His partnership with Jos Buttler at the top will be crucial going forward in the tournament for RR.
If RR openers continue to give good starts to the team, they will be able to put on big totals on the board and put pressure on the opposition team.
If Yashasvi will continue to do well in the IPL and in the domestic circuit, there is no surprise that we will see him donning an Indian jersey in the next couple of years time.
