The 7TH edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2023) has completed 20 games with Dindigul Dragons (DD) won by 8 wickets against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans (ITT). They chased down a target of 174 with 9 balls to spare. With that win, DD is at No. 3 in the points table with 4 wins in 5 games. As we are heading towards the back end of the tournament, it is now time to make some predictions regarding the top 2 finalists. Today, we will talk about the TNPL 2023 finals and see which two teams will have a good chance to reach the finals.
Lyca Kovai Kings already qualified for the playoffs
Shahrukh Khan-led side Lyca Kovai Kings (LKK) has already sealed their spot in the top 4. Right now, they are at the top of the points table in TNPL 2023. They have won 5 games out of 6, and their only loss came against Nellai Royal Kings (NRK).
Sai Sudharsan, S Sujay, Ram Arvindh, Shahrukh Khan, etc all have stepped up for LKK. Especially Sai and Shahrukh. The former is a leading run scorer in the tournament so far with 371 runs in 6 innings. And the latter is the highest wicket-taker with 11 wickets in 6 games. Other players have only contributed very well and LKK has found a new hero in every game.
They won their last 4 games against Chepauk, Trichy, Dindigul, and Salem. Their last league stage match will be against Siechem Madurai Panthers on July 02 at Tirunelveli. LKK will be one of the teams who might reach the TNPL 2023 finals. They have a very good team this year.
Nellai Royal Kings (NRK) and Dindigul Dragons (DD) looking good for the playoffs
NRK and DD both have won 4 games out of 5. But NRK has a better net run rate (NRR) than DD. That is why, NRK is at No. 2 in the points table with an NRR of +0.588. And DD is at No. 3 with an NRR of +0.513.
NRK looking good for TNPL 2023 finals
With G Ajitesh and Arun Karthik in NRK’s batting lineup, they are looking good and might be one of the teams to reach the TNPL 2023 finals. They also have bowlers like M Poiyamozhi and S Lakshay Jain who are doing well. All n all, they have a very balanced side as far as batting and bowling are concerned.
Dindigul Dragons also have some match winners
With the experienced player like R Ashwin and Varun Chakravarthy, they have a very good bowling unit. They also have P Saravana Kumar, who is at No. 2 in the highest wicket-takers list with 10 wickets in 5 games.
Coming to their batting, Shivam Singh and Adithya Ganesh leading from the front and scored valuable runs for DD. In fact, the former is at No. 3 in the leading run scorers list with 211 runs in 5 games with an average of 52.75 and a strike rate of almost 140.
Dindigul Dragons reached in two of the TNPL finals, but couldn’t cross the line. They will look to break that jinx this year.
Fewer chances for Salem, Chepauk, and Trichy
Both the teams are at No. 7 and 8 respectively in the points table. Their chances of even going into the top 4 are looking unlikely.
As far as CSG are concerned, they have already played their 6 games and won only 2. So their chances are very less. They need to depend on other results as well.
A tussle between Madurai and Tiruppur
The main competition right now is between Madurai and Tiruppur. Madurai only played one game less than Tiruppur. If one of them makes it to the playoffs, they will be very dangerous in the tournament.
Which two teams will reach the TNPL 2023 finals?
We have picked Lyca Kovai Kings and Nellai Royal Kings as the two teams who might play TNPL 2023 finals. For a simple reason, both the teams have a balanced side and have proper resources for both batting and bowling. Both the teams are in very good form as well.
The other team who came close to these two is Dindigul Dragons. They also have a very strong side coming into the tournament. But we have picked NRK and LKK as the top two teams. And because we are expecting both of them to be in the top 2, they have 2 chances to reach TNPL 2023 finals.
TNPL 2023 Prediction: Which team will win the title?
Lyca Kovai Kings are looking all set to lift their 2nd TNPL trophy this year. They are a very good side with all the basics covered in the team. And Sai Sudharsan will be the key as his purple patch continues in TNPL after a successful IPL 2023.
