The legendary former Indian captain MS Dhoni has been recovering well after his knee surgery. His wife Sakshi Dhoni provides a big update on the wicketkeeper batter’s fitness post his surgery when asked by the fans during an event. MS Dhoni recently won the 5th Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2023 when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final by 5 wickets. He has now equaled the record of winning the most IPL title as captain with Rohit Sharma, who also won 5 titles as captain with Mumbai Indians.

CSK, in MS Dhoni’s leadership, has won the 5th title in 2023. After finishing at No. 2 in the points table with 8 wins in 14 games, they reach the playoffs.
CSK won the first qualifier against Gujarat Titans by 15 runs. They again faced GT in the final of IPL 2023 in Ahmedabad.
The final was played on a reserve day due to rain. In the final, GT scored a huge total of 214 in the first inning. Sai Sudharsan played an outstanding knock of 96.
Rain interrupted the game and CSK gets a revised target of 171 in 15 overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway started off really well in a run chase. They added 74 runs for the first wicket in six and a half overs. Rahane, Dube, and Rayudu also played crucial cameos. And Ravindra Jadeja gives the last punch and played a match-finishing cameo of 15 off 6 balls. He hit a four and a six when 10 needed off the last 2 balls.

Dhoni came in to bat very late in the whole season. In 16 games, he scored 104 runs with an average of 26 and a strike rate of 182.46.

Captain MS Dhoni, during the whole tournament, has played with a knee injury. He managed his injury quite well. At one stage, there were reports that he might miss a game or two due to his knee injury. But it didn’t happen and he went on to play all 16 games in IPL 2023.
During the tournament, we also saw him covering his knee with a kneecap as a precautionary measure.

Obviously, it is not easy for any cricketer to go all guns blazing in this age. The body won’t allow the same reflexes in the later stages of the career in any sport.

MS Dhoni announced his international retirement from ODIs and T20Is on August 15, 2020. He played his last game in June 2019 against New Zealand in the ICC WC.
Dhoni already retired from test cricket in December 2014. Right now, he only plays in the IPL (Indian Premier League).
