The Indian Premier League’s new season is about to come. One of the most popular teams is going to bring a lot of changes to the team. It is the one and only Chennai Super Kings. The team in yellow has performed quite well in almost all seasons of the IPL. The captain of the team is MS Dhoni. This team has won four IPL titles so far. Now they want to bring the number up to five in IPL 2023.
Current Team Situation
The Chennai Super Kings are well-prepared for IPL 2023. There are a lot of changes in the team taking place. Many players are released. And, most surprisingly, Dwayne Bravo is released too. He was with the team for quite a long time. Undoubtedly, he is a great all-rounder. Bravo is a West Indies player. And, performed well at the bowling end in IPL 2022. He played 10 matches in the last season. And, took sixteen wickets. However, his batting record is below average. He just scored twenty-three runs by the end of the competition. I guess this could be the reason for dropping him.
Besides Dwayne Bravo, CSK dropped some more players. Those are Adam Milne, Hari Nishaanth, and Chris Jordan.
Coming to the players who are still with the team. Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and of course the captain, MS Dhoni, are still with the team. Those players will assist in the auction to get new players.
Players, CSK will go for
As it is difficult to choose players from the whole list. Also, it is even harder with the auction and limited budget. However, Chennai Super Kings already made up their mind for three players. Below are those:
KS BHARAT
KS Bharat played in IPL 2022 for Delhi Capitals. He is a wicketkeeper as well as a middle-order batsman. But, the DC released him for IPL 2023. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings are totally interested in getting this player. Even Ravindra Jadeja approached him too. And, KS Bharat had put a post on Instagram with two yellow hearts. This looks like a green signal from his side. There is also a rumor that MS Dhoni is going to retire from this format too in the upcoming season. Therefore, this new player can take his place too.
SAM CURRAN
One of the top all-rounders, Sam Curran, has also gained the interest of CSK. The player is from England. And, plays for them internationally. He played two seasons for CSK in the year 2020 and 2021. During those seasons, his performance was exceptional. He played a total of 23 games. And, scored 242 runs. Apart from this, he took 22 wickets too.
Sadly, due to some injury, he was not able to play in the IPL 2022. Still, he took part in international matches. Which, most probably means, he will take part in IPL 2023.
As Chennai Super Kings do have a vacant spot for a fast bowler. And, Sam Curran bowls outstandingly during the death overs. This makes him the perfect choice for the team. However, with his marvelous stats, other teams will go for him too. Which will make it difficult for CSK to get him.
LITTON DAS
Litton Das is an opener for Bangladesh. Though he has never been part of the IPL. In fact, none of the players of Bangladesh showed much interest in the Indian Premier leagues except Shakib Al Hasan. Das may or may not be the part of IPL 2023 auction. But, if he will be, then there is a fair chance that CSK will go for him. He is a wicket keeper too. Therefore he can serve as a purpose of choice in the future too. Or probably a backup plan.
In a recent match against India, he scored 60 runs. His batting has shown quite impressive knocks. He lost his wicket in a run-out. This was the time he got the spotlight from the world of cricket. Hence, that is why CSK is interested in him too.
Conclusion
KS Bharat, Sam Curran, and Litton Das are the three assured choices of Chennai Super Kings. They will bid for those three in the auction of IPL 2023. We are not sure whether CSK could get what they want or not. But, one thing is assured both the auction and the IPL 2023 will be extremely entertaining.
