Mumbai Indians have always been a strong team. The performance of the team was great in almost all IPL seasons. Except for the IPL 2022. In the last Indian premier league, they won just four matches. They played 14 matches in total. And, they were last on the list of all teams. However, the team won five IPL titles so far.
Now it’s turning for IPL 2023. Mumbai Indians are releasing some big players in the upcoming season. The final releasing players’ list has the names of some great players. Such as Tymal MIlls, Kieron Pollard and Fabian Allen. Besides those epic players, Hrithik Shokeen and Mayank Markhande will also not be playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023.
Here are the players that are still with the team for the upcoming IPL season. Ishan Kishan, did great in the last IPL. Another player is Suryakumar Yadav. We are witnessing his marvelous batting recently against New Zealand. Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah do not need an introduction. They are with the team too. And, many more good players are retained.
Players, the team want
Ipl 2023 got certain changes in the auction pattern. And, Mumbai Indians are looking for some new players to add in. As the last season of the IPL was not that good for the team. To get back into the top queue, they are finalizing some players to auction for. Three players’ names came up. Those are:
SHIVAM MAVI
Jasprit Bumrah is the only fast pace bowler, that the Mumbai Indians have right now. They need another bowler matching his speed and pace in the new season of IPL 2023. And here comes the Shivam Mavi. He is a resident of an Indian state called Uttar Pradesh. He was with Kolkata knight riders in the IPL 2022. KKR signed him during the IPL auction of the year 2022. He was signed for a huge amount of 7.5 crore Indian Rupees. However, now he is not with the team. KKR released him. Mumbai Indians are definitely going to bid on him during the auction of IPL 2023.
BEN STOKES
Ben Stokes is one of the best all-rounders in the current cricket era. He plays internationally for England’s team. Mumbai Indians are looking to make their middle order strong. And, this player can do it undoubtedly. Even Though, Ben Stokes has not participated in the IPL 2022. In fact, he played only one match in IPL 2021. As he got injured that season. And, was not able to continue.
He earlier played for teams like Rajasthan Royals and Pune Supergiants. His record is quite impressive so far. He played forty-three games in the Indian Premier League. In those 43 matches, he scored 920 runs. And, he also took 28 wickets.
Above are the reason, MI want Ben Stokes on their team.
CAMERON GREEN
Here is another all-rounder. Cameron Green is an Australian player. He recently came to attention in the eyes of IPL 2023 organizers. This player has never been part of the Indian Premier League before. He is showing an impressive performance as an opening batsman. In fact, he was added to the Australian twenty-twenty world cup playing eleven later. Josh Inglish, got injured during the world cup. And, Cameron Green took his place. He performed really well.
This is why, not only Mumbai Indians, but other teams will go for him too in the auction of IPL 2023.
Conclusion
To cap it all, Mumbai Indians need a fast bowler and two all-rounders for the team. Cameron Green is in good form. He is handling the position of an opener really well. Ben Stokes will bring balance to both the bowling and batting sides of the team. And, Shivam Mavi can try to stop runs from the opposite end of Jasprit Bumrah. The currently retained team will be much stronger if they can get those three players. However, it will not be easy. As other teams might go for those too. And, the IPL 2023 auction amount limit will definitely be a problem too.
