Indian Premier League is one of the most viewed cricket tournaments. The sixteenth season of IPL is coming up in 2023. The major sponsor is TATA. Therefore, it is also known as Tata IPL 2023.
Chennai Super kings are quite a popular and loving team of Ipl. The captain of the team in yellow is Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In total CSK won 4 IPL titles so far. And. they were runner-up in many seasons too.
However, the performance of the team in the Ipl 2022 was below average. They won four out of the fourteen matches they played. And, were in the second-last position in the Ipl 2022. Also, surprisingly the team, at last, was Mumbai Indians. Which was a strong team too.
Now CSK is rebuilding the team. There are some changes taking place to retain the position in the upcoming season of IPL.
Let us first talk about the players who are going to be released from Chennai super kings.
Dwayne Bravo, an impressive all-rounder, announced his retirement last season. Therefore, he is released. But, he is hired as a bowling coach for CSK in IPL 2023. He is replacing Laxmipathy Balaji. As Balaji is taking a one-year break.
Here is another player who will not play with Chennai super kings in IPL 2023 due to retirement. And, this is the one and only Robin Uthappa. He was both a wicketkeeper and a right-handed batsman.
Besides the above two, there are a few more on the list. Those are Hari Nishaanth, Chris Jordan, Bhagath Varma, KM Asif, Narayan Jagadeesan, and Adam Milne. Therefore, in total, eight players are not with CSK anymore, except Bravo.
Now let’s talk about the players who are going to be with the team in IPL 2023 too. First of all the captain and the lightning-fast wicket-keeper is definitely with the team. However, there is news that this is the last Ipl he will play. And, the management is looking for a player to replace him for next season.
The all-rounder who is known for his fielding, Ravindra Jadeja is also staying with the team. The rest of the players who will play from Chennai super kings for sure are Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mahesh Theekshana, Deepak Chahar, Prashant Solanki, Matheesha Pathirana, Simranjeet Singh, Mukesh Chowdhary, Tushar Deshpande, Dwaine Pretorious, Mitchell Santner, Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, Ambati Rayudu, Subhranshu Senapati, and Moeen Ali.
Now the team is left with INR 20.45 crore in their purse. Also, two slots for international players are vacant.
Now the Chennai super kings are critically thinking about new players to target for. There are three players for whom CSK will bet in the auction for IPL 2023.
The very first is the young prodigy, Harry Brook. He is a batsman from England. He might play at number four.
Another player is Sam Curran. He has shown outstanding performance in the Twenty20 world cup, Also, he was with CSK in the IPL 2020 and IPL 2021. But, due to some injury, he was not able to participate in ipl 2022. However, as per his current performance. He is definitely going to play in the upcoming season of IPL. And, CSK has the complete intention to get this all-rounder.
There is another player too that CSK management is going to target in the auction. He is KS Bharat. Ravindra Jadeja, approaching him already, gives their clear intentions. The player was with Delhi Capitals last season. But they released him. He is both a wicketkeeper and a middle-order batsman. Therefore, he is an optimum choice as MSD is retiring from IPL next season.
So, above are the changes that are going to take place in the team for the upcoming IPL. The management has put all their brains in. With MSD’s last season of the Indian Premier League, choosing the captain will be quite a difficult task. And no, Jadeja is not in the line to fill this position.
But, of course, they need to prepare in advance for that. Also, it definitely seems that CSK is all ready to rebuild the team and come back strong as in earlier seasons.
