Why Virat Kohli Won’t Miss The IPL 2024?

With Virat Kohli withdrawing his name from the 1st two tests of the India vs England test series and skipping the remaining test series game against England due to personal reasons, Sunil Gavaskar has raised doubts over the participation of Virat Kohli in Indian Premier League IPL 2024. Earlier this month wife of Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma gave birth to their second child, a baby boy named Akkay.

Speaking about Virat Kohli ahead of the Indian Premier League IPL 2024, Sunil Gavaskar expresses uncertainty about Kohli’s participation in the upcoming IPL 2024. Speaking to the students at an IIM Ranchi Star Sports event, Gavaskar said:

Kya woh khelenge… kuchh reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele (Will he play… He is not playing because of some reason, perhaps he may not play in IPL as well),”

However, Virat Kohli isn’t expected to miss IPL 2024 and should be back for the opening match of the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Check Out The 3 Reasons Why Virat Kohli Will Not Miss The IPL 2024

1. IPL 2024 will start after over a month of their second child’s birth

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma announced on Instagram that they gave birth to their second child Akaay on 15th February. TATA IPL 2024 starts on March 22. Thus, it will have been a month since Akaay’s birth by the time of the IPL’s opening match. It is highly likely that Virat Kohli will play in the opening IPL 2024 match between RCB and CSK.

In today’s cricket, players hardly ever take a break longer than four weeks to return to the game after giving birth. A week or two weeks off is usually taken by players to spend time with their wife and baby. Thus, we should expect Kohli’s return for the IPL 2024 opening match Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

2. Kohli’s Desire to Win IPL Trophy

The only player to have appeared in every season for a single franchise in IPL history is Virat Kohli. He hasn’t, however, won an IPL trophy with RCB.

According to Suresh Raina, the legend of CSK feels that Virat, one of the most valuable players in the IPL, deserves at least one trophy in his career.

It is Virat Kohli who is leading the IPL with the most run-scorer. As a result, he has scored 7263 runs across 237 IPL matches, including 50 half-centuries and seven centuries.

Although Virat Kohli and RCB have reached the IPL final three times, they have yet to win the trophy.

3. For the RCB Fanbase

Speaking to TOI, Suresh Raina said “Virat and RCB fans deserve the IPL trophy.”

During a Star Sports video, Virat Kohli on RCB Fanbase, “For me, the loyalty, the faith, the love I have received from the fans over the years is way more valuable.”

It’s hard to imagine Kohli missing the 2024 Indian Premier League season, given the wholehearted and strong emotion of his fan base. As a franchise player with such strong emotions, Virat will not disappoint the RCB fanbase.

End Note

For the first time in his career, Virat Kohli missed a whole Test series. If there isn’t a last-minute change of plans, Kohli will miss the fifth Test against England, having missed the first four. However, Virat Kohli is expected to return from the break and participate in the IPL 2024.
