Having left the Australian soil with a 2-1 loss in the recently concluded 3-match ODI series, the 38-year-old had a memorable outing as the standout performer for India.

The last game of the series was played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday (October 25), saw the vintage days batting performances of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

It’s worth mentioning that RO-KO’s 168-run partnership for the third wicket not only propelled India to a 9-wicket victory in a 237-run chase but also saved Shubman Gill from facing an embarrassing whitewashing defeat in his maiden ODI captaincy stint.

Apart from social media, Rohit’s speech during the post-match presentation ceremony outlines his emotions and the joyful moments of his journey on Australian grounds.

A Heart-Touching Instagram Story

Especially, the right-handed batter made a remarkable comeback by scoring a fifty and a ton each in Adelaide and Sydney after a flop show in Perth. His unbeaten 121-run knock was indeed one of the best ODI performances of his career in Australia.

Although India lost the series, Rohit was granted the player of the series award for his fabulous batting performance.

Rohit About His Fabulous Run in the Australian Tour 2025

During the post-match presentation ceremony in Sydney, Rohit Sharma reacted to his top-notch performance on challenging pitches in Australia:

“Yeah! You need to expect the toughest conditions in Australia. They have quality bowlers. All you should do is understand the situation and try your level best.

You expect difficult playing surfaces and highly skilled bowlers in Australia. Playing here is never easy. We couldn’t win the series, but there are plenty of positives. It’s a young side, and there will be a lot of learning.

It was a good preparation, although I haven’t batted for a long time. Still, I was confident enough while entering the contest.

Considering my own example, I still remember the way seniors helped me during the starting stages of my career. Likewise, it’s our turn to step in and perform easily. All we should do is guide them, help them create the best game plan, and revisit the basics, which I have adhered to whenever I play here,” the former Indian skipper said.

Hitman, furthermore, reiterated his statement, saying that at times he too found it challenging to bat on Australian pitches:

“See! It is never easy to play on the Australian soil or any abroad pitches. But the young side will have more to learn from this tour. Mainly, sharing our experience helps them to create proper game plans. All these years, I had to go back to the basics in Australia. In reality, it is something that I need to pass on to the next generations.

I always enjoyed playing in Australia, and the matches at SCG deserve a special mention. The pitches were great, and so were the ground and crowd. Overall, I love what I have been doing and hope to continue doing the same in the upcoming days,” Rohit said.
