Rinku Singh Wants To Join RCB If KKR Releases Him

Rinku Singh wants to join Virat Kohli’s RCB if KKR releases him: IPL 2025 mega auction

The young sensation Rinku Singh has been the revelation during the IPL 2023. He burst onto the scene when he smashed 5 sixes to Yash Dayal in the last over to win a game for KKR against GT. Since then, we have seen him growing in confidence. While talking about the IPL 2025 mega auction, Rinku said he wants to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) if KKR releases him. Today, we will see what Rinku Singh said regarding the IPL 2025 mega auction and why he wants to play for RCB. So let’s start.

Rinku Singh wants to play for RCB

The left-handed aggressive middle-order batter has been one of the mainstay in Team India’s T20I setup for the last 1.5 years. In the last few years, Rinku has done well in the domestic and in the IPL (Indian Premier League). After his consistent performances, he got a maiden call-up in the Indian team in August 2023 against Ireland.

Rinku Singh has been playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since 2018. But he got the attention in the last 3 years of playing in the Indian Premier League IPL. He has done well for KKR and won games for the franchise. But, it is now expected that the next edition of the tournament will have a mega auction. The franchise might release some players before the IPL 2025 mega auction.

When asked about the franchise he wants to represent if KKR doesn’t retain him (Rinku Singh), he replied – RCB.

One of the main reasons he wants to play for RCB is because Virat Kohli is there. We have seen quite a time on social media that Rinku Singh idolizes Virat Kohli having fun with him in the videos surfaced on different media platforms. He wants to play with the former RCB and Indian captain I RCB.

Rinku Singh said – “Abhi toh kuch pata nhi hai. Abhi kuch bataya nahi ki retention hoga ya auction mai jana hai. Aur Abhi dekhte hai kya hota hai aage.” [Nothing is known as of now. Nothing has been said yet whether there will be retention or whether the auction will happen. Let’s see what happens next]”

“I didn’t perform that well” – Rinku Singh on his exclusion from Duleep Trophy

Not just in white-ball cricket, Rinku Singh has done well in red-ball cricket as well. He hasn’t played test cricket for India but did well for Utter Pradesh (UP) in the Ranji Trophy (red-ball cricket) tournament in the last few years. But the selectors didn’t select him for the upcoming Duleep Trophy tournament. On that, Rinku Singh said his performance in domestic cricket cost him a place in the squad of the Duleep Trophy 2024. He is confident that he might be selected for the next round of matches.

“Nothing…I didn’t perform that well (in the domestic season). And I didn’t play many matches in the Ranji Trophy…I played 2-3 matches. I wasn’t selected because I didn’t play that well. I might get selected for next-round matches.” – Rinku on his snub from Duleep Trophy.

Rinku is now an integral part of T20I team

Rinku Singh’s ability to clear the fence in death overs makes him a valuable asset in any team. He played the role of a finisher for KKR quite well in the last few years. We have also seen him doing well at the international stage for Team India. Although the sample is small as of now in internationals, he makes every opportunity count in the limited T20Is he has played so far.

Till now, he has scored 418 runs in 17 innings of the 23 T20Is he has played so far. He averages 59.71 and has an astonishing strike rate of 174.17. Rinku has two fifties to his name in this format with the highest score of 69.

As far as the IPL, He has played 45 games and scored 893 runs in 40 innings with an average of 30.79 and a strike rate of 143.34. He has scored 4 fifties in IPL and has the highest score of 67. Furthermore, Rinku has played just 2 ODIs for India and scored 55 runs with a strike rate of 134.15.

Rinku missed out on the T20 WC squad recently

Unfortunately, he missed out on the 15-member Team India squad that won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 recently. Shivam Dube replaced Rinku Singh in the squad due to the former’s bowling prowess.

But, we have seen some glimpses of Rinku’s bowling in Sri Lanka (SL) recently. He took two wickets in the penultimate over and gave only 3 runs in that over. India went on to win that game in the Super Over. So we might see him rolling his arm over in the future as well. Rinku also talked about his bowling skills. He said – “Everyone knows now because, in the last match against Sri Lanka, I bowled and took 2 wickets, so everyone knows that I can bowl as well.”
