Pakistan Cricket Team Yet To Get Visa Clearance For CWC 2023

The ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 is just around the corner and the teams who are participating starting to travel to India for the mega event. All the teams might land in India at least 2-3 days earlier before the warm-up games so that they can acclimatize to the conditions. However, the Pakistan cricket team’s preparation for the World Cup has been interrupted due to visa clearance issues. The team, who applied for the 33 visas (including players and team management) still didn’t get the visa clearance to travel to India.

Pakistan cricket team planned a team bonding session before the WC

The Pakistan Cricket Team has planned a two-day team bonding session in Dubai just before travelling to India for the CWC 2023. However, due to visa issues, the two-day training session in Dubai has been cancelled now.

Pakistan cricket team will now wait for the process to complete and as soon as they get the clearance, they will fly to India.

33 visas applied by the Pakistan cricket team

According to the sources, the Pakistan cricket team has applied for 33 visas, which include players, the support staff, and the team management. But they didn’t receive any confirmation.

“Having applied for 33 visas, including for players and management, but at this point, the team haven’t received any confirmation.” The source also said the team had initially planned a two-day session in Dubai, but it is not possible now.

Pakistan’s last visit to India

Pakistan cricket team last travelled to India in 2016 for the ICC T20I World Cup. They didn’t even reach the top 4 in the tournament. Due to the political tensions between India and Pakistan, the two teams haven’t played any bilateral series since 2013. They only play in the ICC tournaments and in the ACC tournaments since then.

Pakistan won the last bilateral ODI series against India by 2-1. India visited Pakistan last time for the Asia Cup in 2008.

PCB source hopeful of receiving visa clearance on time

One of the top sources from the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has said that they are hopeful of getting visa clearance on time despite being pending right now. They are hopeful that they will be on time to participate in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

When will the Pakistan Cricket Team travel to India?

There is a possibility that the Pakistan Cricket Team might take an early morning flight from Lahore on September 27. They are just waiting for the pending visa clearance. The team will first land in Hyderabad.

Pakistan’s warm-up games scheduled

Pakistan Cricket Team will play their first warm-up match against New Zealand on September 27 in Hyderabad. They will play the 2nd warm-up match against Australia at the same venue.

Paksitan will not play in Mumbai

If the Pakistan cricket team reaches the top 4, they will play the 2nd semi-final in Kolkata. They will not play the first semi-final in Mumbai (no matter where they finish in the top 4) due to security concerns.

In fact, Pakistan’s warm-up game against New Zealand (NZ) will be played behind closed doors due to security concerns.
