Pacer Mohsin Khan Joins Lucknow Super Giants For Rest Of The IPL 2023

The Indian Premier League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league in India, is in its 16th season. It is organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. We have not yet reached halfway through the IPL 2023 season. But the tournament has already shown us some incredible finishes & top-notch individual performances.

There have been 23 matches in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League as of Monday, April 17. The Rajasthan Royals have been leading the points table with 3 wins in their 4 games. They are followed by the Lucknow Super Giants.

LSG Boosted by Mohsin Khan’s return

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan will join the squad for the final games of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), giving them a big boost. Due to a shoulder injury, he could not play in the opening games.

In the 2022 IPL season, a young fast bowler won everyone over. He played a significant role for LSG during the season. Taking 14 wickets in just nine games, with bowling scores of 4/16 being the best. His average was 14.07 and his economy was 5.97 regarding his wickets.

The pacer underwent surgery to remove blood clots in his shoulder. It led to earlier speculation that he might miss most of the current season. Additionally, at the mini-auction in December, the team selected seasoned left-arm bowler Jaydev Unadkat as a ready substitute.

The pacer will now join the LSG camp for the remainder of their campaign, according to ANI, as the medical staff has determined that he is healthy. With Mohsin joining the likes of Mark Wood, Unadkat, Avesh Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Yash Thakur, and Mayank Yadav in the lineup, LSG has strengthened their fast bowling lineup even further.

Mohsin Khan’s IPL Journey

Mohsin was initially acquired by the Mumbai Indians in 2018, but he finally received a chance to play when LSG acquired the pacer for Rs 20 lakhs during the IPL auction in 2022.

The pacer also enjoyed a respectable first season, taking 14 wickets for the team in nine appearances. Additionally, his best bowling performance of 4/16 was very useful as he finished the season with an economy of 5.97.

Mohsin will want to practice his craft and put his best foot forward, much like he did in the previous season when he returns to action for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season. LSG will probably rely on him in the closing stages of the games and will hope that he performs well for the team. On Wednesday, April 19, the KL Rahul-led team will take on the Rajasthan Royals in their next match. It is still to be seen if Mohsin will make his way into the starting lineup.

The Super Giants’ weakness has been death bowling, and in their most recent game against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), captain KL Rahul was forced to use the leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi towards the end of the innings. Given that he excelled in the previous season’s death overs, Mohsin might be helpful in this situation.

With three victories out of five games, the Lucknow Super Giants sit second in the standings. Meanwhile, Mohsin’s addition should improve their chances of winning the championship this year.

Lucknow Super Giants’ Latest Match Result

KL Rahul, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), expressed disappointment that they couldn’t have scored more than 180 runs while batting first against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday, April 15. In LSG’s subpar total of 159-8 in 20 overs, Rahul was the lone warrior, scoring 74 off 56 deliveries.

In the final over, PBKS successfully defended the goal with three deliveries remaining. LSG suffered its second defeat of the campaign. Although the team is still in a strong position with three victories out of five games.
