IPL 2025 Playoffs: With 15 matches left in the league stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the race for the playoffs gets spiced up. Fans are eagerly waiting to know which team could be the first to qualify for the next stages of the tournament.
However, it is confirmed that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are officially eliminated from the playoffs race as they have no chances to finish in the top four.
In the earlier seasons, teams that secured 16 points have easily secured a playoff berth. But, the current scenario is much complicated as there are possibilities of six teams to conclude with 20 points. It includes teams such as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Mumbai Indians (MI), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Delhi Capitals (DC).
While Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have slim chances to qualify for the knockouts due to their inferior Net-Run-Rate (NRR).
Let’s take a look at the teams’ playoff chances after the 55th match of IPL 2025 between SRH and DC.
1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB): 16 Points and +0.482 NRR
Royal Challengers Bengaluru became the first team to acquire 16 points in the ongoing season after defeating CSK by 2 runs in a last-ball thriller. Securing another win would confirm Bengaluru’s entry into the next stages.
RCB wouldn’t face off against the toughest teams like MI or GT in their upcoming fixtures. Although Rajat Patidar and his men have almost confirmed the playoff spot.
- RCB Remaining Fixtures in IPL 2025:
| Date | Day | RCB Opponent Team | Home / Away | Venue |
| May 09 | Friday | Lucknow Super Giants | Away | Lucknow |
| May 13 | Tuesday | Sunrisers Hyderabad | Home | Bengaluru |
| May 17 | Saturday | Kolkata Knight Riders | Home | Bengaluru |
- Required Matches to Win to Qualify for IPL 2025 Playoffs: 1 out of 3
- RCB Possibility to secure Maximum Points: 22 Points
The Royal Challengers have higher chances to finish in top two and can still qualify for the knockouts even if they lose all remaining matches. This could only be possible if the other five or six teams conclude the league stage with 14 points or less.
2. Punjab Kings (PBKS): 15 Points and +0.376 NRR
Despite a few losses and an abandoned match, Punjab Kings under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy have performed consistently. However, tough competition from DC and MI before their last game against RR would require the Kings to secure two more victories to stay active in the race.
- PBKS Remaining Fixtures in IPL 2025:
| Date | Day | PBKS Opponent Team | Home / Away | Venue |
| May 08 | Thursday | Delhi Capitals | Home | Dharamshala |
| May 11 | Sunday | Mumbai Indians | Home | Dharamshala |
| May 16 | Friday | Rajasthan Royals | Away | Jaipur |
- Matches Required to Win to Qualify for IPL 2025 Playoffs: 2 out of 3
- PBKS Possibility to secure Maximum Points: 21 Points
3. Mumbai Indians (MI): 14 Points and +1.274 NRR
After winning just one game out of the starting five matches, it seemed impossible for the Mumbai Indians to secure a top-four spot. But Hardik Pandya and his men made a stunning comeback and achieved six straight wins that changed the team’s fortunes to stay competitive in the playoffs race.
MI needs to win two out of three upcoming games to confirm a playoff spot, but is certain to face formidable challenges against GT, PBKS, and DC. Suppose the five-time champions extend their winning streak; they are certain to conclude in the top two rankings and participate in the Qualifier 1 round.
- MI Remaining Fixtures in IPL 2025:
| Date | Day | MI Opponent Team | Home / Away | Venue |
| May 06 | Tuesday | Gujarat Titans | Home | Mumbai |
| May 11 | Sunday | Punjab Kings | Away | Dharamshala |
| May 15 | Thursday | Delhi Capitals | Home | Mumbai |
- Matches Required to Win to Qualify for IPL 2025 Playoffs: 2 out of 3
- MI Possibility to secure Maximum Points: 20 Points
4. Gujarat Titans (GT): 14 Points and +0.867 NRR
The qualification scenario is simple for the Gujarat Titans as they require winning two out of four matches to reach the 18-point cut-off. However, a top-two finish is guaranteed by winning all four remaining matches.
- GT Remaining Fixtures in IPL 2025:
| Date | Day | GT Opponent Team | Home / Away | Venue |
| May 06 | Tuesday | Mumbai Indians | Away | Mumbai |
| May 11 | Sunday | Delhi Capitals | Away | Delhi |
| May 14 | Wednesday | Lucknow Super Giants | Home | Ahmedabad |
| May 18 | Sunday | Chennai Super Kings | Home | Ahmedabad |
- Matches Required to Win to Qualify for IPL 2025 Playoffs: 2 out of 4
- GT Possibility to secure Maximum Points: 22 Points
5. Delhi Capitals (DC): 13 Points and +0.362 NRR
Despite having a positive start to the season, Delhi Capitals find themselves in a tight situation, particularly after their recently abandoned match against SRH due to heavy rains.
However, the Axar Patel-led team is still in the playoff contention and requires winning three more matches for safer qualification. But it wouldn’t be easy against the opponent teams actively hunting for a spot in the knockouts, such as PBKS, DC, and MI.
Even securing 2 out of 3 wins would guarantee 17 points, but they could face the threat of closer elimination depending on other teams’ NRR.
- DC Remaining Fixtures in IPL 2025:
| Date | Day | DC Opponent Team | Home / Away | Venue |
| May 08 | Thursday | Punjab Kings | Away | Dharamshala |
| May 11 | Sunday | Gujarat Titans | Home | Delhi |
| May 15 | Thursday | Mumbai Indians | Away | Mumbai |
- Matches Required to Win to Qualify for IPL 2025 Playoffs: 3 out of 3
- DC Possibility to secure Maximum Points: 19 Points
6. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): 11 Points and +0.249 NRR
The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, rank in 6th place in the points table and have fewer chances of qualification. Even if they manage to win all remaining matches, they would gain 17 points. In addition, the Knight Riders should hope for other team results to go in their favor to hold a chance of advancing into the top four.
- KKR Remaining Fixtures in IPL 2025:
| Date | Day | KKR Opponent Team | Home / Away | Venue |
| May 07 | Wednesday | Chennai Super Kings | Home | Kolkata |

- KKR Possibility to secure Maximum Points: 17 Points
7. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG): 10 Points and -0.469 NRR
After playing 10 matches, Lucknow Super Giants rank in the 7th spot and need to win all three matches to have a slight chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Although they might not gain 18 points, but can keep their qualification hopes alive.

| Date | Day | LSG Opponent Team | Home / Away | Venue |
