IPL or PSL? Corbin Bosch — MI’s New Injury Replacement for IPL 2025 Sparks Chaos for PSL Franchise

South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch finds himself in a zone of confusion after he was signed up for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025.

On Saturday (March 08), the Mumbai Indians (MI) dealt with a massive blow as the South African bowler Lizaad Williams was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The five-time champions signed in Corbin Bosch as a replacement for their injured star pacer Williams for the approaching 18th season of the IPL.

Although an individual player can participate in multiple T20 leagues hosted by different nations, MI’s latest inclusion added new confusion. Having been a part of Rajasthan Royals reserve players group in the past, the 30-year-old is yet to make his IPL debut. However, he was the diamond pick by Peshawar Zalmi for the PSL 2025 draft held in January.

The 10th season of the PSL is to be held in the April-May time slot that clashes with the IPL 2025 schedule. Now it is confirmed that Corbin Bosch will have to skip any one deal and the question is which one would it be?

How did Corbin Bosch Acquire Both T20 Leagues Contracts?

Earlier, Bosch registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction for his base price of INR 30 lakhs but went unsold in the two-day bidding event.

Later, the Proteas seamer signed up for the PSL drafts and acquired a contract from Peshawar Zalmi in the diamond category, which is indeed the second-biggest ranking in the PSL drafts.

To deal with injury, MI invited Bosch, leaving him to choose any of the two contracts— IPL or PSL.

Bosch’s Best Performance in International Cricket

Since his international debut against Pakistan in December 2024, Corbin Bosch has contributed his best with his all-round performance for the South African team.

Speaking about the Boxing Day test in Centurion, Corbin became the first South African cricketer to claim a 4-wicket haul (4-63 in 15 overs). Also, he scored a valuable fifty-plus score in his debut match, scoring 81 runs out of 93 balls (including 15 fours), batting at the lower order.  His best efforts guided South Africa to confirm their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final in June this year at Lord’s.

Out of 2 ODI innings played, he bagged 2 wickets and scored 55 runs. It includes Bosch’s notable 44-ball-40 run knock (including 5 fours) in his debut ODI match.

Corbin Bosch’s Special Bonding With MI

Although Bosch hasn’t made his IPL debut yet, he is special to the MI family. The South African was part of MI Cape Town’s (MICT) squad in the SA20 2025. He had a fabulous season with the ball claiming 11 wickets in 7 innings at an average of 17.36 and an economy of 8.68, including his best bowling figures of 4/19.

As MICT lifted their maiden trophy, Corbin’s selection process became easier for the rich-cash Indian league. It’s time for him to reunite with his SA20 teammate Ryan Rickelton and represent Mumbai Indians. Also, he is the third seam bowling all-rounder after Hardik Pandya and Raj Bawa, thereby bolstering MI’s pace bowling attack.
