MI bought Arjun Tendulkar for a base price of INR 20 lakh in the Indian Premier League 2021 auction. But he didn’t get a chance to play a single game in IPL 2021.
In IPL 2022, auction, MI again bought Arjun Tendulkar for INR 30 lakh. But he has to wait for another year to make his IPL debut.
In 2023 IPL, Arjun made his debut against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 16 at Wankhede Stadium. Arjun Tendulkar played 4 IPL games this season. In those 4 games, he picked up 3 wickets with an average of 30.67 and a strike rate of 19.67. His economy is 9.36 with the best figures of 1 for 9.
Priceless message from Sachin Tendulkar for Arjun
After Arjun made his IPL debut against KKR, his father Sachin Tendulkar drops a priceless message for him. He felt proud of his son. Via Twitter, Sachin Tendulkar shared his feelings.
“Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer. As your father, someone who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves and the game will love you back,” Sachin tweeted.

Sara Tendulkar, sister of Arjun Tendulkar also came to the stadium to cheer his brother in his first IPL game. She also dropped a heartfelt message for her brother on her social media.
Performance of Arjun Tendulkar in IPL 2023
1st Game: Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders
Arjun’s role was to bowl with the new ball. He bowled well and gave only 5 runs in his first over. His figures were good until V Iyer hit him for a four and a six on the last two balls.
Arjun Tendulkar finished with the figures of 0-17 in two overs in his first game.
2nd Game: Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
In the 2nd game as well, Arjun bowled 17 balls and gave 18 runs, and took his first IPL wicket. His first wicket was B Kumar in IPL. He also bowled a very good last over. MI won that game by 14 runs.
3rd Game: Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings
Again he bowled well in his first 2 overs and gave 17 runs and took the wicket of Prabhsimran. But his 3rd over went for 31 runs and he finished with the figures of 1 for 48 in his 3 overs.
4th Game: Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Titans
In his last game against GT, he bowled 2 overs and gave only 9 runs. He also took a wicket of W Saha.
Overall, his performance was decent enough and he bowled well with the new ball. He swung the ball well and some of his incoming deliveries troubled the batters as well.
Arjun Tendulkar will look to do better next year if he gets a chance again.
Challenges for Arjun Ahead in the Future
The tag of Sachin Tendulkar’s son will give him some pressure whenever he fails. He will have to work hard to upskill himself and try to do better in death overs.
This year, MI didn’t give him a role of bowling in the last few overs. Arjun has some time before the next IPL season. He will also feature in domestic as well.
Arjun Tendulkar will have to work hard to justify his selection. He needs to perform consistently to stay there for a longer period of time.
