3 Players RCB Might Target In 2024 IPL auction

Royal Challengers Bangalore has been one of the most followed Indian Premier League IPL franchises not just in India, but all around the world. So many big players have played for this team and their fan base has been phenomenal. But despite playing for so many years, they failed to win a single trophy for their fans. They came closer quite a few times but didn’t able to cross the line in the finals.

2024 IPL Auction Date

IPL 2024 Auction Date is officially not announced yet. However, it is expected to be scheduled for December 1st week 2023.

IPL 2024 Auction Venue

For the IPL 2024 Auction venue, Mumbai is expected.

Today, we will talk about the 3 players who might strengthen the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team in the IPL 2024.

Big names, but no trophies for RCB yet

So many big players like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson, M Starc, etc have played for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Even currently, they have players like Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, W Hasaranga, etc. But they still haven’t won the IPL title yet. Now, they will now look to redeem themselves in the IPL 2024. We will see 3 players RCB might target in IPL 2024 auction. So let’s start.

3 Players RCB might target in IPL 2024 auction

(1) Pat Cummins

RCB has been lacking good-quality fast bowlers for so many years. Their bowling group as a unit hasn’t clicked for so many years.

This year, in IPL 2023, M Siraj has been outstanding both with the new ball and in death overs. But there was no other fast bowler who can complement Siraj in the team. Josh Hazelwood also missed most of the IPL 2023 due to injury.

Cummins could be the possibility for RCB with the new ball

Pat Cummins might be their go-to option if they are looking for a good quality fast bowler. Cummins can bowl well with the new ball and has the ability to pick wickets upfront. If he does well, the burden on Siraj will be less, and RCB can use Siraj more effectively.

Not to forget Cummins’ credentials with the bat

Other than his bowling prowess, Cummins can be a handy batter lower down the order. We have seen quite a few times in international cricket and in the IPL what Cummins can do with the bat. He also has one of the fastest fifty in the IPL in 14 balls which came against Mumbai Indians. He hit a few massive sixes to Jasprit Bumrah as well in that inning.

(2) Jason Holder

The big West Indian all-rounder can be a good option for RCB in the IPL 2024. Jolder can bowl with the new ball and has the ability to pick wickets at the top.

Although he got hit for some runs in the death overs during the IPL 2023, he has improved a lot as a death bowler. He can bowl well in the death with his Yorkers and slower ball variation.

A big hitter in the lower-middle order

RCB lost momentum quite a few times at the back end of the inning. Jason Holder can help the team with that as he has the ability to hit the ball long enough. He can also bat up in the batting lineup if needed. We have seen him playing sensible innings in the top order in CPL.

RCB must target him in the IPL 2024 auction. He can bring balance to the team.

(3) Dasun Shanaka

The current Sri Lankan white ball skipper has done well in the past couple of years to win Sri Lanka so many games. Ever since AB de Villiers left the team, RCB has been looking for a big hitter who can add some runs at the back end of the inning.

Shanaka might be the answer for RCB’s search as we have seen him winning tense games when the required run rate is high. He can hit sixes at will and put pressure on the opposition.

Another bowling option for the team

Shanaka is a very handy right-arm seamer who can give a few overs to the team as well. He hasn’t bowled off late but can be one of the options if the captain Faf du Plessis has no choice left. Let’s see if he gets the nod in the RCB or not.

Shanaka’s first appearance in the IPL

Dasun Shanaka came to the IPL for the first time this year (2023) as Kane Williamson’s replacement in Gujarat Titans (GT). But he didn’t get much opportunity to play. If GT releases him, RCB should have gone after him in the IPL 2024 auction.

Conclusion

So these are the three players we have picked that RCB might look for in the IPL 2024 auction. RCB is in desperate need to win their first title. They played the final in 2009, 2011, and 2016, but fell short against Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Let’s see how they do in IPL 2024.
