BCB Announced Squad For CWC 2023 | Tamim Iqbal Left Out

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad for the ICC WC 2023 a few days ago. One of the main points that came out of this squad is the exclusion of Tamim Iqbal. Tamim Iqbal, one of the most experienced players in Bangladesh cricket has been left out of the CWC 2023 squad due to injury. Tamim Iqbal feeling discomfort in his back again

Tamim Iqbal made a comeback in the team with the New Zealand series and played two games as well. He scored 44 in the 2nd game but felt some discomfort in his back again.

The left-hander has to sit out in the 3rd game and he told the management as well to consider his injury management before picking him in the CWC 2023 squad.

Now, BCB has announced their squad for the CWC 2023. An experienced campaigner Tamim Iqbal has been left out of the squad. The selectors have taken this decision after considering the medical team’s advice.

BCB’s chief selector on Tamim’s exclusion

Minhajul Abedin, the BCB’s chief selector explained the whole scenario regarding the exclusion of Tamim Iqbal. He said they are aware of Tamim’s injury concerns.

Abedin also said they have talked about this with all the concerned involved in this matter. Although he didn’t reveal the exact conversation.

Can’t take risk in the WC

Abedin said they can’t take risks with the half-fit players. Especially during a big event like WC. He also said Tamim Iqbal is one of their main players. But his injury restricts his ability. The decision has been taken after considering all of those above-mentioned points.

Absolutely. Not having Tamim Iqbal is a very big miss for the Bangladesh cricket team. He has a lot of experience playing in the big stages. And he is a very solid and consistent performer at the top of the order. The team will definitely miss the services of Tamim Iqbal.

Shakib also didn’t want Tamim in the team

Mahmudullah, one of the most experienced middle and lower middle-order batters is back in the team as well. He missed out of the Asia Cup 2023. But the team recognized the need for an experienced batter at the back end of the inning.
